Bending over backwards
By this stage poor old Jarvis has done all he can to try to please Edgar on his misguided mission. The final humiliation is to abandon his identity entirely, his freedom and individuality symbolised throughout by his bow tie, in a final desperate attempt to give Edgar what he thinks he wants. Here are sketches of Jarvis's unhappy dog impressions, and the finished pic.
